Have any authors ever given you the wonderful, timeless gift of reading?
They spent years learning and honing the craft, writing drafts, trying to get published, often struggling to make ends meet… just so you could enjoy a good story.
Imagine if some of your favorite authors had given up, depriving you of a great book to read. Fortunately, they didn’t. They persevered.
This holiday season, did you buy gifts for friends and family? Did you receive some nice gifts? Did you help anyone in need?
How about a simple thank you for an author whose book you enjoyed? It’s easy. Your choice:
- Post a review on Amazon or Goodreads, describing what you thought about the book. Easy peasy. Not only will the author appreciate your time and effort, it will help other shoppers, too.
- Reach out to the author with a simple thank you note. This will be simple if the author included contact info in the book, or has a blog or Twitter feed into his or her author page at Amazon.
- Tell a friend about a great book that you enjoyed. It’s a simple reward for the joy that an author gave you, and you pass your joy onto a friend.
Happy holidays to readers and writers everywhere. Let us be thankful for many wonderful books to choose from. 🙂
Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Book-mas to all!
